Gettin' up more than you fall....

Roxanne Quimby is the woman who created Burt's Bees - with the assistance of Burt of course. She gave an interview to Inc. magazine and one paragraph really struck me.

In the early years, I had some midnight-of-your-soul type of times. Once, I came home from a fair and found the window in my cabin blown in. Snow was all over. It was 20 below and 3 in the morning. I hadn't made any money and the car had just barely made it there. I really believe that success is just getting up one more time than you fall. It doesn't come from one brilliant idea, but from a bunch of small decisions that accumulate over the years. And you shouldn't underestimate the amount of work that's involved, the amount of fear that's involved.

Wow.

Them's some strong and inspirational words right there. Applies to more than just bid'ness doesn't it? Riding horses.... Life.... if we can all keep getting up, it only takes getting up one more time than you've fallen.

Anyway - my appointment with Rosso was changed - Rex has an injured horse and so we'll get to it another day... s'allright. All is well - the sun is shining!

Yeah, thats good stuff. Sometimes with horses that can be hard. I know there have been times I just didn't want to go out to see the booger, and sometimes a little motivational shove is needed. But man, just trying to find new solutions over giving up can make a world of difference.

(btw- the word verification for this post is 'dingledo'. Wouldn't it be a fun job to think up these things???)

Yeah - I really, really love that whole paragraph for business, life and riding!

Ooooo - my mind so easily goes to the gutter... the word sounds dirty don't it?

Wait - maybe not dirty but maybe more Christmas-y Ned Flanders....

Or maybe its a codeword for Russian spies that means "LAUNCH THE MISSILES!!!". But about the post itself... That was one of the greatest quotes I've heard.

Now that I like! I was just thinkin the other day..how many times I had fallen down along the path to feed the herd. Much snow and slippery under foot this time of year, and I just go down easy now. I used to try to catch myself, but it only makes it worse. Now I just accept the fall and roll with it. Sorta funny and I don't care how it looks. Absolutely, it DOES apply to Life now Doesn't it?? I REALLY like that! You are just brilliant! :)

Kelley - You're welcome... I want to hang it up in my cube so I remember it! My new mantra....
