Frogs!

I have a lot o' tadpoles swimmin around in my pond... I was doing some pond maintenance.... microbial additives and barley straw extract to help with the string algae... adding some water and picking out the string algae when I caught THIS!

You can still see a remnant of his little tadpole tail.....

Do you see it?  The tail nub?

No wonder we can't find the frogs in spring when they are singing their little froggie songs... they are tiny!  Western Chorus frog haven in my yard and  I'm so happy to have these little guys in my tiny pond....    heh.  It's all about the little things right?  Even if they are little frogs!

OMG, he's wee! So cute! Love your little water garden too - I keep looking at one little hilly corner of the back yard and thinking how it'd be perfect for a little rock waterfall down to a 50 gallon pool...

They are about the size of our Peeper frogs.. Tiny but a BIG noise comes from them! Love them as they are usually the first sign of spring!

Having frogs means that your garden and water are healthy. Now they can sing you to sleep.

You are so lucky to hold that little fella..!! The weather has been outta sight here. We have some rather LARGE toads in our shop that hop over to the dogs bowls and plunk right down in them to cool off. They are fun to watch..

So cute! They look like licorice jelly beans. But it makes me wonder how they found their way to your pond.

Funder - be careful, the water features are addictive... I wish my pond were a lot larger and I think about adding another one! grin.

Tonia - I know! Who would think they could make SO much noise? Their vocal chords must be microscopic!

Dedene - they do!

Melinda - I know! I was suprised to have caught 'im! Yes - you guys need some relief from that heat!!!

Cheryl - I always wonder that too! And now of course I worry about overcrowding... I mean how many frogs and tadpoles could live in that tiny water hole?
