For those of you who don't know... we bought this little house on 5 acres by the skin of our teeth about 8 yrs ago and we are slowly... verrrry slowly fixing it up to be our little oasis on the prairie.
We had a hard pack red clay/dirt yard and lots o' bind weed. I pretty much thought I was doomed to wearing cut off jean shorts, playing the banjo and standing barefoot in the dirt with a chicken under one arm.
However, this spring I went to work on this little concrete square... we think Opal (the woman who used to live here) was planning a garage.... or the makin's of a hog killin' pen.... or the foundation for fancy chicken operation filled with a mess o' broilers. We don't rightly know which.
Here's hows I'm transformin' our white trash yard:

Good work!!! The pond is awesome, I love the bricks. I also think your bench is much better fit than the pink one would have been. It is really looking great! And by the way, I just made a pair of cut off jean shorts this morning and wore them around town all day. I dare you to call me white trash for it!
How is Rosso doing?
Oh, I HAVE cut off shorts... I wear them around here but I think when you are pushin' 40 and you have a roll around your middle you've named Sheila, you probably look a leeetle trashy goin' out. :)
Rosso is good - he had some acupuncture/chiro work on Friday and was pretty sore so he's off for a few days. sigh. Even if he was sore while we were working him, there are better ways to let the hoo-mans know vs. trying to pile drive them into the dirt.
And I don't know if he was THAT sore cuz he rides fine up at the indoor arena... he's only a big asswipe at home! shrug. Hopefully it's the "turrible two's" stage of the equine persuasion he's goin thru
That flea market bench is really nice! And look how green your garden is!!! It's gorgeous!!!!
I love how expressive dogs faces can be. Sammy's smile reminds me of a child's automatic smile when you whip out the camera. V. cute.
I have 2 awards for you on my blog, if you're into that, that is...
Love the picture of Sammy.... and the looks of your water garden. VERY NICE!!!!!
I had Boomer adjusted once. I don't know if it helped or not. I had him done because all of a sudden he was freaking out if I put any leg on him at all. He was better after that, but I didn't really see any miracle cure, behavior wise! Though, with as many times as that dang horse has pulled back/flipped over it probably didn't do him any harm!
I have always wanted to try acupuncture on myself...
I figure if horses live to be 30, they age three times faster than us, so Boomer is six, but acts 18. Seems about right! How old is Rosso?
Cheryl - yay! Thank-you - but what do I do to get them?? Copy and paste? I am reeeel slow 'bout the bloggy goodness awards! I haven't forgotten!
Heather - he's young - 7. I'm not sure I am hook, line and sinker about chiro work... there are SO many alternative therapies out there right now. I try to keep an open mind about them!
